Indications of Low Self-Confidence Identifying the signs of low self-confidence and measures helps build resilience and self-worth. Those with low self-confidence correlatives distrust their strength and continually strive for confirmation from other people.  They avoid accepting threats or endeavoring unique things so that they may not have self-esteem, disappointment, or critique. Hostile self-talk and constant self-criticism are typically arrows of low self-confidence.  Besides, people with intense self-confidence always stumble with their decisions. They also affirm themselves and have limitations in their vicinity. Measures for Creating Self-Confidence Establishing self-confidence is a journey that demands tolerance, self-thought, and constant action. Below are measures you can take to strengthen your self-confidence. Construct associations with relatives, companions, neighbors, and individuals who share your inclinations.  If you can’t get together face to face, find a gathering with virtual meetings you can visit on the web. So, you have to work on your actions.  Thinking this way might appear not warm-hearted; however, it is a welcome idea that will allow you to understand and manage your problem. Cultivating a Positive Mindset Developing a positive mindset is essential for developing self-confidence. Practicing gratitude and concentrating on your life’s positive facets will also help boost your self-confidence. Ensure you resist unfavorable beliefs and reframe them into more empowering attitudes.  Assume disappointment as a possibility for development and wisdom. Formulate an addiction to self-care, such as exercise, eating healthy, and mindfulness rehearsals. By so doing, you are sure to improve your physical and mental well-being, thereby improving your self-confidence. Honoring Little Accomplishments Setting goals for yourself is another measure that can help you have self-confidence. To achieve that, break the goal into smaller milestones and work on them.  Whenever you reach one of these milestones, take a moment to acknowledge your progress and give yourself credit for how you’ve come.  Celebrating these wins reinforces your belief in your abilities. It contributes significantly to building self-confidence. It serves as motivation to keep striving for even more accomplishments. Attaining Strength Through Self-Care Self-care also plays a role in developing resilience and boosting self-confidence. Prioritizing activities that nourish your body, mind, and soul helps boost your self-confidence.  Engaging in pursuits that bring you joy enables you to disburse quality time with loved ones, and practicing being kind to yourself has a better chance of helping you develop self-confidence. Nevertheless, considering your body requirements by taking vacations helps build your self-worth. By prioritizing self-care, you’ll revive yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally, stimulating you to face challenges with new energy and eagerness. Aspiring Help and Professional Assistance Occasionally, when building your self-confidence, it’s crucial to attain support from those around you. Feel free to count on trusted friends, relatives, or mentors who can offer advice and words of motivation. Consider searching for the expertise of a therapist or trainer who specializes in building self-esteem and enthusiasm.  They can deliver insights, procedures, and personalized systems to support you on your journey towards adopting self-confidence and solidity. Work Habits and Its Amazing Effect On the Health Of the Eyes 1

WORK HABITS AND ITS EFFECT ON THE HEALTH OF THE EYES

In this article our focus will be on how our work habits can affect the health of the eyes in amazing ways and how we can manage our screen time be it computer, phones or television. The eyes is one of the five sense organs which works with our brain to tell us the size, shape, color and texture of an object; in other words it allows us to see our environment. The eyes’ anatomy is made up of several parts (Iris, Pupil, muscles, conjunctiva, Cornea, Lenses, Retina, Optical nerve, etc.) which works together to help us see clearly. Sometimes, we can inherit defects (short nearsightedness, long farsightedness, etc.) from our parents. Over time, age or our lifestyle can also make our eyes deteriorate faster. How can work habit affect the eyes? Work habits can affect the eyes in the following ways: It could lead to computer Vision syndrome (digital eye strain). This eye problem is caused by prolonged use of computer and it has symptoms such as eye irritation, blurred vision, headaches, backaches, neck aches, muscle fatigue, etc. Computer Vision Syndrome is becoming a prevalent issue among the working class. Most especially those whom their work involves long/constant screen time. Computer Vision syndrome is not known to have permanent damage on the eyes but the symptoms can be very discomforting. Photo sensitivity – The constant exposure to ultraviolet rays from computer screen in the long run causes one to be very sensitive to light rays, sunlight inclusive. It can make one’s eyeballs elongated. As the pressure of the eyes increases as a result of long screen time, the eye balls gradually become elongated altering its shape. How to Manage our Screen time durind work? To ensure our eye health do not deteriorate significantly it is very important to manage our screen time properly. Some solutions to these environmental causes include: Adjust your computer: Move the computer screen 20 to 28 inches from the eyes or just beyond the arm’s length to improve the comfort of the eyes. Blink Frequently – This helps the eyes from drying out. According to a research by the University of Iowa, we blink 66 percent less while on a computer. Take regular screen breaks to rest the eyes. Reducing glare and harsh reflections on the computer screen by modifying the lighting in the room, closing window shades, changing the contrast or brightness of the screen, or attaching a filter or hood to the monitor. Use the right glasses: It’s important to get glasses needed for viewing digital screens. If you use glasses, always check for time to time that the prescription of your lenses is not weak. Blue ray glasses helps to reduce the radiation from the screen from penetrating the eyes. Adjust your posture: Sit up straight, keep your shoulders relaxed, and use a chair with the right height and good back support. Take regular breaks: This one can do by practicing the following Follow the 20-20-20 rule i.e. look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes; learn to blink constantly when you can not help but sit. Rest for 15 minutes after every 2 hours of continuous screen use and Do non-screen tasks: Rather than read e-book, get hard copy books, play cheese, scrabble and other activities that will not involve looking at screens (computers, tablets, phones, etc. Use eye drops to reduce dry eye symptoms. Poor eyes can lead to decreased work efficiency and huge loss of productivity. So it is important that we care for our eye health and ensure we regularly (at least once a year) go for proper eye checkup apart from practicing the above screen time management techniques so our eyes can remain healthy.

Life Transition: Easy Ways to Navigate from School to Career

Life Transition: Easy Ways to Navigate from School to Career

Life transitions are periods of transformation in our lives that mark the beginning of something new. Lynn Cowell once said, “Sometimes, God brings times of transition in our lives to create transformation.” At the beginning of a person’s life, various transitions occur. There is the transition from being a baby, to being a child, to being a teenager, to growing into adulthood. Every one of these transitions is quite difficult and challenging for human beings. For a student who has always been catered for by his parents throughout his entire life, suddenly transitioning into a career life where he has to cater for his personal needs can be a daunting task. However, with the right mindset and strategies, you can make this transition smoothly and effectively. In this article, we’ll explore easy ways to navigate from school to career life: Reflect on Yourself: First, before you start your career journey, take some time for self-reflection. Know what your passions, strengths, weaknesses and career goals are. What are your values and what do you enjoy doing? This self-reflection will help you to make informed decisions concerning your choice of career. Craft a Polished CV and Cover Letter: While writing your Curriculum Vitae, ensure that you highlight your academic achievements, internships, extracurricular activities and relevant coursework. Make sure that the CV and cover letter are tailored to each job application. If you are finding difficulty with crafting a good CV, you can find various samples online that will be a guide to help you craft a well-polished one which will suit your career. You can easily choose your area of specialization on their platforms, and set it to send these job alerts to your mail or as a direct message. Companies also make use of these platforms to send information about job vacancies in their organization. Don’t be discouraged by rejections; each one is a learning opportunity. Someone once said, “When shifts and transitions in life shake you to the core, see that as a sign of greatness that’s about to occur.” Learn from your mistakes and move ahead to something better. Be sure to apply widely, but also selectively to positions that suit your interests. Learn to be Adaptable: The first job that you eventually get might not be your dream job, but it is a stepping stone to the one you seek. Be open to learning from each experience, even if it is not exactly what you envisioned. Prioritize your tasks and allocate time for self-care, exercise and relaxation. It is important that you don’t overburden yourself with work that you forget to take care of your personal health. Learn to strike a balance between the two in order to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Embrace Failure: Failure is an inevitable part of life. Whenever people set their minds to do something, it is not every time that they succeed. It is therefore imperative for you to learn from it and embrace it. Embracing failure is an effective way to develop as an individual. Don’t be disheartened by them. See them as an opportunity to grow and improve in your career. Be Wise Financially: As you’re fully aware that you are catering for your personal needs, learn to budget and manage your finances wisely. Save and invest for your future, and set achievable financial goals. This will ensure that you have a backup plan during your rainy days. Finally, transitioning from a student life to a professional life can be exciting and daunting at the same time. However, with easy steps of self-reflection, financial wisdom and a commitment to continuous learning, you can successfully navigate from a student life to a fulfilling professional life. Remember, each step of the journey is an opportunity to learn, adapt and grow. Embrace this transition with confidence, and you’ll be well on your way to a rewarding career.

Agriculture is the future of food production and sustainable agricultural practices is the best method of navigating the future of food production. There is a continuous demand for the production of more food and food products. Studies state that by 2050, food production will increase by 70%. One of the prominent reasons there will be an increase in food production is the rapid growth of the world’s population.  Over 800 million people in the world’s population will be malnourished by 2030 if there are no innovations in the agricultural sector. Mitigating these challenges requires a team of farmers, investors, government and stakeholders working together to create sustainable agriculture. Farmers and agricultural organisations need to invest in more technology and strategic means to combat future insufficiency.  How do we sustain agricultural practices so that they navigate the future of food production?   Sustaining agricultural practice stands on the existing principle that the world’s needs must be met without a negative impact on the future of agriculture. To do so, farmers must incorporate healthy, economically profitable, environmentally beneficial approaches to agriculture. These include: Cultivating healthy planting and maintaining healthy soil. Promoting biodiversity Reducing agricultural runoffs Preventing food wastage Minimise and eradicate all forms of pollution Integrate mixed farming system (livestock and crop farming) Encouraging agroforestry practices Enhancing the lives of farmers and farming communities  Promoting ethical and green farming practices. Sustainable practices include urban agriculture, permaculture, agroforestry, crop rotation, biodynamic farming, natural pest management, natural animal rearing, crop protection, mulching and biological weed control.    Conclusion The future of farming is bright, and to ensure we have a sustainable agricultural system requires fundamental changes regarding the management of our natural environment. With the latest technology gadgets, tools, and top research, it is possible to make changes to protect our environment and also ourselves as we are the end users. This is only achieved through sustainable agriculture.

The Key To Unlocking Your Full Potential

In a world filled with challenges and uncertainties, there is a beacon of light, the key that can guide us through even the darkest of times. That beacon is encouragement. Yes, encouragement! It gives hope to the hopeless, gives life to a downcast, gives certainty in an uncertain situation, and gives a future to someone who thinks there is no future. Encouragement uplifts brings an array of hopes and gladdens the hearts. A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success. Encouragement is one of the most common ways through which individuals express support for one another. Moreover, in the parenting and family science literature, encouragement is considered a key process through which parents provide support to their young children, and family resilience is fostered. Many counseling Psychology applications also involve the use of encouragement. Encouragement is the expression of affirmation through language or other symbolic representations to install courage, perseverance, confidence, inspiration, or hope in a person(s) within the context of addressing a challenging situation or realizing a potential. It can be challenge-focused or potential-focused. As reflected in the quote at the beginning of this article, encouragement is often provided to individuals involved in challenging situations. Examples include: general life stress, mental or physical illness, indecisiveness about life choices, sitting for academic tests or other activities that require substantial effort or exertion. In this regard, encouragement involves instilling strengths that may potentially address the recipient’s perceived limitations. For instance, the instillation of courage reduces fear, perseverance combats a desire to give up, confidence addresses low self-efficacy, inspiration resolves a lack of motivation or creativity, and hope decreases pessimism about the future. Another example of challenge-focused encouragement is “The situation is not as bad as it looks, and I know things will improve”. However, encouragement can also be offered outside the context of challenging circumstances where the focus is on realizing a potential instead of addressing a problem. In such instances, the encourager communicates her or his recognition of a potential in a situation or in the recipient. An example would be when the encourager provides an unsolicited suggestion to the recipient to engage in a fulfilling task that will realise the recipient’s potential (e.g. “I know you have never thought of being a Medical Doctor before, but I think you are capable of exceling as a Medical student”). Or “have you ever considered a career in statistics? I know you will be really good!”. Why Should People Embrace Encouragement? People should embrace encouragement because of the following reasons: Encouragement and Mental Health: In a world grappling with mental health issues, encouragement can be a lifeline. It combats self-doubt and negative self-talk, fostering resilience and mental well-being. By subscribing to encouragement, we can contribute to a society that values emotional support and mental health. The Ripple Effect: Encouragement does not stop with the individual, it has a ripple effect. When we encourage others, we create a cycle of positivity and empowerment. As those we encourage go on to achieve their goals, they, in turn, become a source of inspiration for others. Thus, encouragement becomes a powerful force for societal progress. Encouragement in Action: Consider the stories of great leaders, athletes, and artists throughout history. Behind every success story, you will often find a mentor, coach, or supporter who provided unwavering encouragement. Encouragement plays a pivotal role in shaping destinies. The Power of Encouragement: Encouragement is more than just a warm gesture or a few kind words; it is a force that has the power to transform lives. When someone believes in us and cheers us on, we become capable of achieving feats we never thought possible. Encouragement fuels our self-esteem, boosts our confidence and instils a sense of purpose. In a world often driven by competition and criticism, encouragement stands as a beacon of hope and transformation. It empowers individuals to reach their potential, fuels the flames of success, and creates a more compassionate society. Join us and embrace encouragement as a core value, we not only better ourselves but also uplift those around us. Subscribe to the value of encouragement, and together, we can build a brighter, more supportive world. Embrace encouragement as a core value and watch how it transforms lives. Together, let us build a world where support and positivity uplift us all to achieve our dreams and create a brighter future.

FOOTPRINTS

To Ada, nature seemed to be the only thing life could not mess with, as it does with humans. At 16, the sea had become her favorite. It was like a balm to her soul, easing her pain. The recent experience with Papa began to replay in her mind, gaining passage into her thoughts. She wished she could stop them, she wished her brain would delete the traumatizing encounters with Papa, instead of hitting replay anytime her mind wandered. She had done more than wishing. On many occasions, she always tried to stop thinking about the traumatic life with Papa but somehow, it was always a futile effort. It was market day, Papa had given her money to purchase foodstuffs but unfortunately, robbers attacked her on the way. Papa’s wrathful shouting and cussing filled her ears and pierced her heart. Tears rolled down her cheeks, as his words came back to taunt her.‘Do you want to kill me like you killed my wife? Eh, joy killer!” He shouted, landing quick successive slaps on her right cheek before using his belt on her scarred body. She had outgrown physical pain but the emotional assault would always sting, no matter how many times he repeated the same phrase without mincing a word. The constant reminder that her mother died while giving her life, was a pain she couldn’t express with words. The pain was deeper than the jagged, ugly scars riddling her body. She would have cared less if her father’s hatred wasn’t inclusive. He didn’t even make any efforts to disguise his hatred, he made it obvious for everyone to see, even the blind. To him, she killed his loving wife and caused his wretchedness. She wished her father would accept that it was not her fault Mama kicked the bucket the instant she ‘pushed’ her into the world. She desired her father would open his eyes and see she was not an evil child. Who wouldn’t want to be showered with motherly affection? Just as he craved a wife’s love, she too craved a mother’s love! Why wouldn’t he see that?Sometimes, she earnestly hoped he would realize she was just as unlucky as he was. After all, she lost a mother, his acceptance, and his love. Her phone vibrated, jolting her out of her reverie, and confirming it was time to leave. Just like every other footprint staring at her, she stared back, noting the size and imprint of each one.She stood up, shook out her flowing skirt, and took a final glance at the different sizes etched on the sand. It spoke of the different souls with diverse situations, who had also walked across the white sands of the seashore. She wondered if people’s life torments were measured by foot sizes as well. Has someone who lost everything, treaded here? Has someone with mild physical pain sought the peace only serenity can give? There was no way she would know for sure, but she was grateful for the footprints, it was a reminder that she wasn’t alone in her struggles.“A footprint holds the story of an overcomer.” She murmured to herself. The strength to continue living, and the courage to dream and hope for a better life, came from these footprints. These soldiers who had gone before her didn’t give up.“I won’t give up.” She said into the chill air, “One day, my story will change. I will come here again, press my feet deep into the sand, and leave a story of hope.”Wiping a lone tear that escaped her eyes, she pulled her foot from her worn rubber slippers and pressed it into the cool sand.“One day, this sand will bear testimony of my story.” She said as she turned to leave for home; a building that reeked of sorrow, anger, and bitterness, and a family she never got to know.

Ethical Issues Of Artificial Intelligence In Healthcare

Ethical Issues Of AI In Healthcare 300x200

Ethical Issues Of Artificial Intelligence In Healthcare The role of artificial intelligence in healthcare is fast becoming prominent. However, ethical issues such as data privacy, data handling, biases, patient confidentiality, and more have raised concerns about the reliability of AI in healthcare.  Over the past decade, AI and technology (machine learning) have helped to provide new insights into clinical cases and drug discovery. With AI, health workers, particularly nurses, are more well-rested and overburdened with problems machines can solve. This is a massive breakthrough for the healthcare sector.  In this article, we will discuss some of these ethical issues. Data handling and Security  Drug development  Biases  1. Data handling and Security In healthcare, medical personnel use electronic records or data collected from patients can be used for scientific purposes such as clinical and academic research to improve healthcare quality. However, there are risks of these data being hacked by cybercriminals and third parties.  This ethical issue leads to a break in patient-doctor confidentiality. In some scenarios, sensitive data has been sold to unprofessional sources. 2. Drug Development  In drug development, artificial intelligence helps in drug development, which used to be strictly human-led. Data generated from patients can be used to develop specific drugs and models that are gene, organ, and tissue specific depending on the needs of individual patients.  However, concerns are being raised about the current regulatory laws and whether there is a need to implement more rules to allow data privacy, especially in drug development. This is to protect the patient’s privacy.  3. Biases  AI biases are another ethical issue that threatens the growth of AI in the health system. These biases are anomalies that arise when human designers unknowingly introduce them to the AI model during creation. Another instance of bias occurs during incomplete data collection. Although these biases are not intentional, they can lead to differential treatment, improper diagnosis, and less effective treatment. Conclusion  In conjunction with policymakers, the government at all levels needs to work together to ensure that ethical issues, such as data privacy, the safety of patient information, and informed consent, are tackled promptly to have a beautiful working system.

Peace

“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and calmly. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems” Saint Francis de Sales. Peace is a precious commodity that must be jealously guarded for progress in an individual’s life. Other schools of thought define peace as the presence of harmonious friendship and the absence of violence, conflict, or war. Types of Peace There are two types of peace recognised globally. They are: Internal peace (Individual peace) External ppeace 1. Internal peace Internal peace can also be described as peace within oneself. Achieving internal peace is a gradual process that requires much effort and positivity. In the religious context, internal peace can be achieved through meditation, solemn prayers, and reflections. Internal peace is vital as it reflects true peace and is the foundation of external peace.   2. External peace External peace occurs in a community or society. In a broader sense, external peace is the absence of war, violence, social injustice, social disturbances, inequality, etc. The bedrock of external peace is internal peace and vice versa. The absence of peace in an individual contributes largely to disrupting external peace. This is because we make up a society. On the other hand, external peace contributes to inner peace as it affect the community or society and can contribute to internal peace due to its influence on human life. Importance of Peace Peace contributes to maintaining composure in all situations. Peace brings about inner calmness. Peace eliminates anxiety, worries, uncertainty, and doubt. Peace promotes the growth and development of a community.   Conclusion Peace is a fundamental aspect of human life that contributes significantly to building a better world. It provides a foundation for social and economic progress, political stability, and the promotion of human rights. By promoting cooperation and unde7rstanding among nations and fostering social justice and equity, peace contributes to achieving a harmonious and prosperous global community. It is up to all of us to work towards peace in our lives, communities, and world and make it a reality for everyone.
