Cooking gas cost drops after reduction in Petrol price

Cooking gas costs drop after reduction In Petrol prices   Ifeyinwa Susan Francis   The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has enumerated how the fall in the price of Premium Motor Spirit triggered the price of liquefied petroleum gas, also known as cooking gas, down. Cooking had   According to the Daily Post, the price of a 12.5-kg cylinder of cooking gas that was sold for N17,500 has been reduced to N16,200 in some retail outlets in Abuja.   This was disclosed by Daily Post on the 29th of April, 2025.   This proves that cooking gas, which was sold for N1,400, is now sold for N1,300 and sold between N1,050 and N1,150 in filling stations compared to N1,200 and N1,400 in previous months.   The fall in the price of cooking gas is also experienced in Edo, Delta, Niger, and other states in Nigeria, with consumers having to spend lesser for refilling either a 12.55kg cylinder or a smaller quantity.   The new change follows the current reduction in the price of petrol to between N910 and N950 per liter from N940 and N970 by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited retail outlets, petrol retailers, and retail partners of Dangote Refinery   According to the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, the country consumes 1.4 million metric tonnes of cooking gas yearly translating to 1.4 billion kilograms. At the current average price of N1.4 billion per kilogram, consumers will spend N1.82 trillion yearly, a reduction from N1.96 trillion.   Nigeria produces 600,000 tonnes of cooking gas locally and imports 800,000 tonnes to meet the 1.4 million metric tonnes of total annual demand.   Reacting to the new change, the spokesperson of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike, said in an interview with DAILY POST that a marginal drop in the price of cooking gas is expected following the reduction in the price of petrol.   According to him, other energy sources in the country’s downstream sector have impacted the price of competing products.     “When the petrol price was high, liquefied petroleum gas was used as an alternative to fuel for some generators.   “Now that the price of petrol is going down, the LPG marketers and producers have dropped their prices in line with the international factor and exchange rate.   Also Read: Education turns into a nightmare as Energy Crisis disrupts academic activities    “The alternative choice of energy in the downstream sector has impacted the prices of competing petroleum products. Closest Enemy

Closest Enemy

Closest enemy typically refers to an enemy who is nearby, either geographically, emotionally, or in terms of their actions and influence. It can also imply a relationship where someone is perceived as an enemy despite being outwardly friendly or familiar   Part 1 CLOSEST ENEMY   Ifeyinwa Susan Francis   Backbone is a notorious kidnapper, weapon smuggler, terrorist, and leader of the most dangerous syndicate in Lagos. He is notorious for working for high-ranked politicians. Carrying out their dirty jobs, such as threatening, embezzlement of funds, hijacking of electoral materials, and many more. He has been wanted by the armed forces and law for a very long time. But no one seems to know him since he’s always wearing a mask. This made it difficult to capture him. He calls himself the kingpin of Lekki. When his terrorism got out of hand, the police decided to take preventative measures. The government and the people of Lekki have been confused. Wondering how things got out of control in the hands of the honorable, fair, and just commissioner of police, Dr Ahmed Lawal. A man known for implementing justice and peace. But the CP reassured the public through a press conference that he would hunt and bring Blackbone to book. “What do you think you are doing, D.P.O.? How can things get out of control in your hands? Now! Go and reinforce your men and hunt that fugitive down. If I get another report from the governor, you will be forced to leave your position.” The commissioner tells the D.P.O over the phone “Yes sir.” The D.P.O replied. The D.P.O. did exactly as the commissioner had ordered and gathered his area commanders and superintendent in a meeting. “Do you know I sent a mole to discover who Backbone truly is? The mole came back with his picture and hideout alone.” The doctor stopped and continued. “Something is fishy about that Backbone. He has a strong backup in government and even though we have his face… his identity is still hidden.” The DPO tells his men. Everyone stared at him with so much surprise. “How do you mean his identity is hidden even though we’ve seen his face? Our mole did a nice job by bringing his face and hideout.” ASP Moses tells d.p.o, Auwal Ibrahim The d.p.o smiles and stands up from his seat and crosses his two hands behind his back “I can confidently tell you that even the right-hand man to that fugitive does not know him. There is something that has been keeping us from catching him. And that’s because he is hiding behind a mask. A metaphorical mask. That’s why no mole can discover him. We need a bigger plan.” The doctor tells ASP Moses. One of them suggested that they tell the commissioner of police about their plans, but the D.P.O refused and insisted they carry out their plans first before letting the C.P. know. Backbone discovered that Blood was a mole in his team and shot him dead instantly. Backbone is aggressive, temperamental, and cruel. Always angry. He was a bully and led a cult group when he was in the Tertiary institution. Backbone told his men that anyone who went against him would be 5 feet below the earth. He instructed Sniper to kidnap the 18-year-old daughter of the governor of Rivers State to demand ransom. His men went and successfully kidnapped the girl. After abducting her, they called her father for 500 million naira ransom but the governor told them that he doesn’t have such amount of money. But they gave a deaf ear, claiming the governor has more than what they are requesting. The governor kept pleading with them to let his daughter go but they refused. He told them that he spent all his money campaigning for the position of governor and would do anything to pay them once he got the money. He pleaded with them to accept 300 million naira. But his refusal to complete the ransom enraged Backbone. He then gave the order to kill the girl. And they murdered the innocent girl. This story pierced the heart of the government. “How could a terrorist from Lagos kill a daughter of Rivers State.” Everyone laments. The government of Rivers State took it upon themselves to get to the root of the matter and take that terrorist down. They collaborated with Lagos police to achieve this. The DPO of the Lagos division does not trust anyone except himself. He decided to keep his division and that of Rivers State in the dark and decided to hunt the culprit himself. Blackstone was going to the supermarket in a mask with his men surrounding him everywhere. When he got there. He purchased his desired wines after which he exited the supermarket to ride back to his headquarters. On his way to his car, he jammed a very gorgeous lady and fell her groceries to the ground. Instead of blackbone to apologize, he stepped on the girl and continued walking. But the lady stood up and dragged him back. “Hey, Mister man. Are you blind?” She asked him. Black bone turned like an abomination had just happened. People were surprised and pitied the girl because she seemed new. “Bia! Are you talking to me? Are you the only one in Lagos that doesn’t know me?” He asked the girl. The girl was extremely beautiful. Her smile alone could save a nation. “I don’t give a damn about who you are. I just came back from The States to visit my parents, you know. But whoever you are? Does not give you any right to treat me like trash.” The lady replied People were expecting backbone to slap her or kidnap her. But the unbelievable happened. He approached her and calmly asked for her phone number. The girl refused at first, claiming backbone is yet to apologize. But finally gave in. From that day, the backbone could not sleep. For the first time, blackbone … Read more

Education turns into a nightmare as the energy supply crisis disrupts academic activities.

Education turns into a nightmare as Energy Crisis disrupts academic activities

Education and energy crisis  Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. On the 10th of January, the transformer of Aluu broke down again, contributing to the energy crisis that has disrupted the academic activities and turned the educational pursuit of the students of the Federal University of Port Harcourt into a nightmare. Students of the prestigious University of Port Harcourt are crying out to the government to intervene as the poor energy Crisis has also forced them to stand in queues in public places to fetch bathing water before going to class every morning. What is effective learning without the aid of constant water and power supply if not misery? Students lament. Ikeh Chidera, Public Administration student in Uniport said that this energy crisis started many years ago when he started living in Port Harcourt. The poor power supply has affected everybody including the staff and students living in Aluu. Aluu is a community situated in Rivers State, Nigeria, near the building city of Port Harcourt. It is primarily a residential area and is known for its proximity to the University of Port Harcourt, making it a popular location for students and University staff. Impact of Energy Crisis on Student’s Education Currently, only 45% of Nigeria’s population is connected to the energy grid whilst power supply difficulties are experienced around 85% of the time and almost nonexistent in certain regions. According to a study published on “IREsearchNG,” titled “Epileptic Power Supply and Its Impact on the Academic Performance of University Students,” poor electricity supply in Nigeria significantly impacts students’ academic achievements, as the unreliable power supply hinders learning activities like research and teaching within educational institutions, leading to reduced productivity and affecting overall academic performance Ikeri Loveth, a 200-level student from the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies, expressed her frustration about the poor power supply. “The light is not steady. NEPA PHCN brings the light once in a blue moon coupled with the fact that some compounds don’t have light due to inferior wires.” According to her, the poor power supply in Aluu, in conjunction with the high inflation rate in Nigeria, has crippled their means of survival. Due to power outages, students no longer read, as many find it convenient to read at night. Favor George, a 200-level student in Uniport and resident of Aluu, affirmed what Miss Ikeri Loveth said about their light not being steady. According to her, Aluu is overpopulated and is more than the power of the transformer which could be the cause of the power outage. She added that the poor power supply has forced many to miss lectures and skip important assignments and research as poor power supply has led to dead batteries of students’ phones and gadgets.   Solution Based on the interviews with Uniport students who are residents of Aluu, there are a few things they think can be done to ease the burden the poor power supply has placed on students. Governments at Local, State, and Federal levels should look into the wires used in connecting these lights. The unproportional sharing of light proved without a doubt that the wires used for Aluu NEPA are inferior. The government should use its capacity to provide an extra transformer for Aluu light. The transformer’s constant explosion proves that it is overloaded. The Federal University of Port Harcourt has constant light and is thanks to the fact that they ON generator when the power supply goes off. Government, NGOs, and individuals should donate big generators to compounds occupied by students. By doing so, the light problem will be half solved. Stories from Victims – Online Scam Survivors

Ads - scam or real

Online Scam has been prevalent nowadays. Scammers now use fake money making ads to dupe people . On Thursday, 2 January, a man came to my DM and wrote to me “Greetings Am DANIEL ‘ chatting from Lagos Nigeria, I have something that brings money if you promise to give me 40% on your first withdrawal?? He then asked me. “Which package can you go for because you can only do it once? He continued “3k to add 300k,4k to add 400k, 5klll to add 500k. Note All are 30% payment after sporty bet balance is been added successfully” After this he sent me a link to Sporty Bet to create my account. Immediately I made a payment of N5K. After payment, I waited according to his instructions to withdraw. After 5 days I went to see if I had earned to see N0 in my account. I called him but he didn’t pick the call. That’s when it dawned on me that I had been duped. Given this ugly experience, I decided to investigate some of the online ads I have seen around in recent times. I am not Alone For decades ads have been used to promote businesses on Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms. The ads are generating thousands of people to do businesses once again. But this time, Scammers are impersonating the businesses being advertised A group of Instagram ads unverified are spreading fake money making links and duping people of their hard earned money in Nigeria in a coordinated way. Like the original ads the ad claims to enrich people by performing simple tasks. Speaking with the online business coach, Olivia Onochie she said “I have lost so much online and I was scammed #20K. But I learnt from it.” She said if you see anything like this, “This is about sporty bet adder. This has nothing to do with betting or gambling. This has nothing to do with betting or gambling, you’re only making use of an account to get your 2K boosted to 200K and it’s withdrawable. What matters most is the adder link. I’ll help with the link as far as you stand on your promise. Are you interested??” Know that is scam According to her, online businesses are not all scam. You can win and you can lose. But any unverified ad on social media that directs you to a whatsapp or telegram group chat of people you don’t know where you are asked to pay some amount of money to earn money is scam and fake “Anyone and that takes you to a place where you will use your money to sporty bets, gaming stuff, they are all scam. Tons of people have fallen for it.” She said Another online coach, Mr Kingzy, highlighted that 80% of online businesses are fake. And anyone that asked you to pay to earn is fake or else well investigated. Real money making websites or apps will not come to your DMs or post unverified ads on social media to lure people to their website. Rather they will advertise their business through social media stars. Like how the verified tiktoker Betty advertised about UPHERIOR, famous dancer Purple Speedy advertised about BENEFIX, popular comedians, Mr Sabinus advertised ANCHOR and many more. Though this money making apps and websites crash. Major reason you need a well experienced familiar coach to guide you. Why do they share these ads? The major impact of this fake money ad is defrauding and scamming people opposite their claimed purpose of enriching people On January 4, I clicked on an ad by Master Funder that reads “trade gold with master funder core trading challenge! Start trading as low as $25.” The ad claims to reward and refund it’s users their money after depositing $25 in their website. It encouraged interested users to click on the link below  I clicked on the link attached to Instagram which took me to a website. A form at the bottom of the website requested my name, physical and email address. After registration the website instructed me to pick an auction of $5 to earn $10K or any other one of my choices. Once you pick an auction you will be directed to a payout page where you will deposit your money. The website is like a game. After the auction you will either win or lose the challenges. This is a trick to reap people off their hard earned money. Nobody has ever won the challenge. And it’s a lie, the money is not refundable. “I was a victim.” said Vera Francis. What are the techniques used by fraudsters? PHISHING. According to check point Phishing is a type of cybersecurity attack during which malicious actors send messages pretending to be a trusted person or entity. Phishing messages manipulate a user, causing them to perform actions like installing a malicious file, clicking a malicious link, or divulging sensitive information such as access credentials. MALWARE A software that is specifically designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to a computer system. INVOICE FRAUD Is a type of financial crime where someone sends a fake or altered invoice to a business, with the intention of getting them to pay. The goal is to trick the business into thinking they are making a legitimate payment. RECEIPT SCAM Receipt fraud is the act of stealing or falsifying receipts to get a refund or other benefit. It can involve: Returning stolen items, Returning items to a different store for a higher price, Adjusting customer records in exchange for incentives, and Stealing cash or checks. FAKE WEBSITE Scammers create fake websites that look like they’re from a legitimate source. FAKE OFFERS Scammers make false promises about products, services, or investments. What are some examples of these frauds? 2020, A Facebook page called “M.T.N Lockdown Giveaways – Kingdom” is advertising phone, car and laptop giveaways for students. “MTN is here to support the First 5,000 students because of this pandemic … Read more
